The SoBo District and Pearl Main Street have been designated as Oklahoma Main Street communities, granting them access to state resources for commercial revitalization.
The SoBo District and Pearl Main Street were recently added to the program, joining Tulsa’s four existing Main Street communities: Kendall-Whittier Main Street, Route 66 Main Street, the Historic Greenwood District and Tulsa Global District. The Oklahoma Main Street Program provides training, technical assistance and resources to help communities strengthen historic commercial districts and support local businesses. Tulsa Mayor Monroe Nichols noted that Oklahoma Main Street communities have a proven track record of strengthening local economies and creating places where small businesses and residents can thrive. The two districts developed through years of collaboration among residents, business owners and community leaders.
